First Time User Directions
The Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds
web site is an interactive web site that allows the general public to browse documents from their
home or office. This site closely resembles software installed at the
Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds
office that is also available to the general public.
Before conducting an online search, it is important to note the following:
- Images are available via a JAVA applet. If you don’t have the software to
run JAVA, you may download a copy free at Sun's website.
In many cases, your computer may already have this capability. From within the applet, you
will have the capability to print or save the image(s) as a TIFF file.
- This web site requires a cookie-enabled browser. These cookies are used for session management
and preference storage only. Netscape Communicator 4.7
or Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher are recommended, but be aware bugs may exist in
newly released (or unpatched) versions that may cause problems with this site.
- On most screens, there is a link labeled "Common Questions". Using these links will
provide information on the documents of the section you are in.
- There are 2 databases for Official Public Records (OPR) that can be searched.
One is for OPR documents filed before state-standard naming conventions were changed in 1995, the other for documents filed since then.
You can direct questions, comments or suggestions to
the Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds office.
