The purpose of this site is to provide access to the information contained in the county’s public records to the county’s citizens in a convenient, timely, and low cost form.

This site is the initial release of a hosted web application developed by Manatron, Inc. a national leader in eGovernment and election services for State and Local Government entities.

The approach for this project is a multiphase iterative process. The first phase is now complete. It includes Vital Statistics (Birth, Death, and Marriage), Land Records (Deeds, Deeds of Trust, etc.), Notary and Military Discharge. During the first phase we refined minor aspects of the site and tuned the searches to provide optimum performance.

The second phase will add many exciting features to the site. While the final list of new features is still under discussion, these are a few of the possible enhancements:

• On-Line Applications. Imagine completing your application for a marriage license, receiving an express processing number and appointment time-window. Show up at the Recorders office during your allotted time, go to the express window, and present your express number. Your application has been entered into the appropriate system automatically. Simply show your identification, pay your fee, and receive your license. No more waiting.
• Forms Warehouse. A single source for all government forms. Fill the forms online and print them, or e-mail them to the appropriate agency.
• Electronic Recording (eRecording). Record your documents online. Deeds, Deeds of Trust, UCCs, and many other recording types can be filed online. No trips the Recorders office, no lines, no waiting.
• eCommerce. Order certified copies of some public records over the Internet.

This site was developed and is being refined to serve the needs of you, the people of Mecklenburg County.
